Dear Saint Luke Families,
My name is Dianna Mucciacciaro and I am the reading Specialist at St. Luke School. Students receive academic intervention based on his/her performance on various reading assessments conducted throughout the school year. Each week I provide pull out and push in intervention. I will be working with students 1:1 and in small groups three times a week. I will be working closely with the classroom teachers to help each student succeed. Extra help will be offered once a week, by invitation only.
For early readers, I will be focusing on letter and sound recognition, sight words, fluency and comprehension. For students that know their letters and sounds, I will be focusing on phonics, sight words, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Reading outside of school is essential and should be fun! Below are some fun activities:
- Read a book or magazine
- Play board games
- Listen to e-books
- Play letter/word Bingo
- Read and make a recipe
- Write a song and sing it to a family member or friend
I look forward to a great year working with the children. I believe in a strong home-school connection. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 718.746.3833.
